Community Support

SeaLink’s commitment to North Stradbroke Island extends over and above the Company’s supply of regular ferry services.

The Company’s longstanding association with the islands has come with a considerable commitment to the local communities and those groups and organisations that exist within them. From the very beginning, SeaLink South East Queensland (formerly Stradbroke Ferries) has worked to foster strong relationships with these island communities and provide support in the form of in-kind travel and donated travel vouchers to local groups and organisations.

We have provided significant support to the Elders and Indigenous community; island sporting clubs; local schools; community events and emergency services.

SeaLink South East Queensland proudly supports community events on North Stradbroke Island, providing discounted fares and donated travel vouchers for use as fundraising prizes. The same support is also provided to community and charity events across the Redlands.

  • Lifesaving Services
Point Lookout Surf Life Saving Club

The Point Lookout Surf Lifesaving Club has been providing lifesaving services on North Stradbroke Island since 1947, and SeaLink South East Queensland (formerly Stradbroke Ferries) have supported the club with discounted and in-kind travel since our services began in 1964. This longstanding support has helped the club to develop the club's patroling members and junior activities nippers program.

  • Straddie Sharks U14 2021
    Straddie Sharks U14 Team 2021

The Straddie Sharks Club was founded over 20 years ago as a means to engage local families in the benefits of organized sport. The club exists on sponsorship alone and without the lifeline that SeaLink North Stradbroke Island has given since the first game, the club would not have been able to provide opportunities for island children.

  • MMEIC 2021/2022 Directors (note: several Directors not in this image).

SeaLink North Stradbroke Island has a longstanding partnership with the Elders of North Stradbroke Island and donates the transport of their minibus across to the mainland for functions and funerals. For Elders making their final voyage home to their island resting place, Sealink North Stradbroke Island has always donated the transport of the hearse free of charge, and provides support to the families.

  • Dunwich State School

Support to the children of the Redlands and North Stradbroke Island is consistently provided in the form of heavily subsidised travel to school excursions and sporting events; donated transport of educational visits and school community projects, and the regular donation of complimentary vehicle ferry tickets for use as fundraising prizes.

  • VMR North Stradbroke Island
    VMR North Stradbroke Island

SeaLink North Stradbroke Island supports the North Stradbroke Island Volunteer Marine Rescue with in-kind travel of their vessels to and from the island to ensure they are able to maintain a high standard of operation through regular maintenance.
