
Day 1 - Adelaide
You will be met at the airport for your Transfers from the Adelaide International or Domestic Terminal to the Mantra Hindmarsh Square Adelaide.
Day 2 - Adelaide
to Kangaroo Island
Afternoon pick up from the Stamford Plaza (or transfer direct from the airport to Adelaide Central Bus Station) for 1545 departure for the scenic coach trip through hills and farmland and along the coast to Cape Jervis. There you will connect with SeaLink's fast and comfortable ferry for the 45 minute cruise to Kangaroo Island.
On arrival in Penneshaw transfer to the Kangaroo Island Seafront Hotel, check in and order your 2 course dinner from the a la carte menu before taking a guided penguin tour. Here you will walk with a guide along a boardwalk with the Little Penguins as they come ashore in the evening. At the end of the tour return to the Seafront Hotel for your dinner, served with Kangaroo Island wine.
Day 3 - Kangaroo Island
After a continental breakfast you will be collected by your experienced SeaLink guide and taken to the ferry terminal to meet the other passengers joining your tour. The tour departing from the ferry terminal then begins as you travel around the island experiencing the best it has to offer. First stop is Robs Shearing, an opportunity to see sheep shearing and learn about the wool industry, all in a small and authentic original shearing shed.
From there we drive to Andermel for a look at the marron ponds (fresh water lobster) where these delicious crustaceans are farmed. As Andermel is also a winery wine tasting is included before Lunch is in the Andermel restaurant, with your choice of two marron dishes served with white wine.
After your leisurely lunch we visit the Kelly Hill Caves for a Parks Ranger guided tour of the limestone caves and then continue after a brief stop at the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre, we drive back along the south coast road to an area where kangaroos and wallabies feed in the evenings. Accommodation for the night is at the 4 star Kangaroo Island Wilderness Retreat, near the entrance to Flinders Chase National Park and set in the bush. Watch for the wallabies and possums as you go in for dinner, a two course a la carte meal served with Kangaroo Island wines. Remember to close your hotel room door while you are at dinner as the possums love to visit!
Day 4 - Kangaroo Island to Adelaide
After breakfast we drive back into Flinders Chase National Park to visit Remarkable Rocks, a spectacular eroded granite rock formation we then stop at Weir's Cove to see the ruins of the old lighthouse store. In winter watch for whales which sometimes pass along the coast here. At Admiral's Arch take the boardwalk into the Arch, another spectacular natural formation and home to a colony of playful fur seals. Then we stop off at the Hanson Bay Sanctuary where we take a walk to look for koalas and then to Western KI Sanctuary an area where kangaroos and wallabies feed in the evenings.
From there we drive to Vivonne Bay for a two course lunch served with Kangaroo Island wines in a natural bushland setting. After lunch there is a Birds of Prey free flight demonstration and then we drive to the bay to see what has been rated by one of Australia's leading Universities as Australia's best beach. From Vivonne Bay it is a short drive to Little Sahara, an inland area of large white sand dunes, unusual in that the dunes are not coastal and are surrounded by dense bushland.
Another short drive brings us to Seal Bay Conservation Park where we have one of the world's special experiences - a walk on the beach with your SeaLink guide amongst a breeding colony of wild and rare Australian sea lions. From Seal Bay travel into Kingscote, the island's main town, where you will see the feeding of the wild pelicans and learn about these ancient birds. Then it is time to return to Adelaide and your tour ends at the airport or ferry terminal for evening travel back to your Adelaide hotel.
Day 5 - Adelaide to Barossa
Your journey starts in Adelaide where your guide will meet you at the Mantra on Hindmarsh. You will drive through the Adelaide Hills, to the Barossa valley wine region, where after a stop for morning tea you will visit a variety of wineries so as to become acquainted with the major wine styles of the area. Lunch will be at a local restaurant, typifying the produce of the Barossa, after which you may visit further wineries or explore other local produce such as cheeses, smoked meats, or dried fruits. Your overnight accommodation at the northern end of the Barossa will give you the opportunity to just sit and relax and absorb the tranquil peace and surrounding landscape before enjoying a hearty Aussie country evening meal. Your overnight accommodation will be in hosted B&B, historic houses and scenic settings.
Day 6 - Barossa to Adelaide via Clare Valley
After breakfast, your second day of touring takes you through delightful countryside to the historic copper mining town of Burra for a morning tea stop. From Burra you proceed to the Clare Valley to visit a variety of wineries so as to give you a good overview of the regions wine styles, followed by lunch in one of the Valleys delightful villages. Following lunch you may visit further wineries or explore local craft and produce before retuning to Adelaide through the fertile plains north of the city, bringing to an end a delightful excursion showing many different kinds of real Australian wine experiences. You will then be transferred back to your hotel in Adelaide.
Day 7 - Adelaide
You will be picked up from the Mantra Hindmarsh Square and transferred to the Adelaide International or Domestic Airport to conclude your Kangaroo Island, Barossa and Clare Valley experience.
