Q I have noted on the website that there is a SeaLink Saver Fare – when is it available?

A There are a limited number of SeaLink Saver Fares on selected ferry services.  The date selection you make will always give you the 'best price available' at the time.  In other words if there is a SeaLink Saver Fare available on the date you have picked, this will be shown.

Up Arrow Return to Top

Q Is the driver's fare included in the cost of the vehicle on the ferry?

A No it is not.  The driver is required to pay the standard passenger fare available at that time.

Up Arrow Return to Top

Q Is it more expensive to travel to Kangaroo Island on the weekend rather than midweek?

Q Can I go on a standby list so that I can be swapped to another ferry if it becomes available?

A We do not operate an automated waitlist system, however you may change your booking to another sailing time if a space becomes available.  Please call the Customer Contact Centre to do this.  Please note that if you do change a booking that you made online, you may lose the online discount.  If you particularly want to travel on a certain ferry departure that is fully booked, you may list yourself, prior to departure, as a stand-by passenger/vehicle at the Wharf/Terminal office only.  This does not guarantee you a space on this ferry departure though and you must wait with your vehicle for our instructions.

Q When is the best time to go to the Island?

A Naturally we would say at any time of the year.  Kangaroo Island tends to have cooler summers and milder winters than the mainland.

Summer (Dec-Feb) - as the summer approaches, wildlife retreat to bushland habitat to shelter during the heat of the day. The land is a contrast of golden pastures against summer wildflowers and the new growth of native trees. The beaches are spectacular in the summer time.

Autumn (Mar-May) Pastures begin to green and waterways and catchments begin to flow. Autumn is a time of transition, with some rainfall gradually providing the wildlife with fresh growth to feed on.

Spring (Sept – Nov)Spring is the season of rebirth. It is a wonderful time to see the spectacular array of wildflowers, birds and mammals.

Winter (June-Aug)Winter is spectacular with lush green countryside, flowing rivers and abundant wildlife; it's Kangaroo Island at its most appealing. Land mammals, predominantly night, dawn and dusk feeders for most of the year, frequently come out by day.

Up Arrow Return to Top

Q How long should we spend on Kangaroo Island to see everything?

A Kangaroo Island attractions are easily reached and three days will allow you to see the highlights.  But to truly discover the magic of this nature wonderland, give yourself seven days.  It'll be a week you never forget.

Up Arrow Return to Top

Q Which tour do you think we should go on?

A If you only have one day to spare, the Kangaroo Island Highlights Full Day Tour visits many of the iconic attractions of Kangaroo Island including Seal Bay, Remarkable Rocks, Admiral's Arch and Flinders Chase National Park.  If you have two days to spare, then the KI Coast to Coast 2 Day / 1 Night Tour is a more comprehensive tour taking in more of the coastal regions and local cottage industries and attractions but also includes the major highlights that Kangaroo Island is so famous for.  SeaLink offers a variety of touring packages.  Click here for more details.
